The fence along the back of our backyard is lined with planter boxes. There is a guava tree, a large palm, a few shrubs, and a ton of weeds. At least there were a ton of weeds. Jeff and I thought it would be great to plant some tomatoes (nothing beats home-grown tomatoes!), some herbs and some flowers. We were hoping to at least get the beds weeded within the next few weeks.
Well this weekend we had our first dinner guests in our new home, our good friends the Sundins. Daniel offered to share his gardening wisdom with us, but he came with more than gardening tips. He came with a whole garden!! And within about an hour and a half of arriving, Jeff and Daniel had planted our garden! What a huge blessing and an huge help! Seriously…what amazing friends!! We totally did not expect to have a full-fledge garden planted after only one week in our house. I am so excited and can’t wait for it to start growing!!

I’ve had a real hankerin’ for carrot cake lately. What with Easter and bunnies and CARROTS and all. I recently saw this Carrot Cake Milkshake
recipe on one of my new favorite food blogs, Chocolate Covered Katie. She is a vegan dessert maker so all of her recipes are dairy-free. Yay! This crafty little milkshake is an easy and healthy way to enjoy the yummy flavors of carrot cake! And a perfect Easter morning treat!!
I was not a fan of seafood for most of my life. And I have been an avid nut-hater as well. But ever since cutting out gluten and dairy, I have become open to new things…especially if I know how they are good for me. Please don’t put nuts in my dessert, but on my fish? YES PLEASE!!!
Holy cashews!! This was super yummy and the girls loved it too!
Funny Tidbit: When I put this very plate in front of Tabitha, she said, “Mommy is turning into like a chef.” She also says that she wants to open a healthy restaurant called “Dessert Candy.” Haha! I love sharing this passion with my children.
